Dove Class
Welcome to Dove Class 2024/2025. We are a class of 27 Year 3 and 4 children. Here you will find information about what we will be learning each term, useful documents and educational games. Mr Fry is the class teacher and Mrs Schwarz and Miss Jones are the Teaching Assistants.
Author Visit- 30th June 2025
The children in Year 3 and 4 had an exciting visitor this afternoon, an author, Mel Taylor-Bessent, who has written the Imagination Island series of books. She really inspired the children and gave them lots of writing tips. The children were very keen to read some of her books. Mrs Norman and Levy in Kingfisher class, also had a rap battle! Mel also has her own YouTube channel to encourage children to write, it is called Write for Fun.
Here is a link to one of her videos.

National Literacy Trust's Young Reader Programme
This year, the children in Year 3 and 4 will take part in the National Literacy Trust's Young Reader Programme.
Throughout the year, we will be taking part in 3 separate events and as part of each event, every child in the phase will receive a book of their own to take home and keep. The purpose of this is to promote a love of reading for all children.
The first event took part on World Book Day when the children took part in a Masked Reader event. Adults from the phase disguised themselves and read an extract from their favourite children's book. The children then had great fun trying to guess each adult and the book they were reading. We then dropped everything and read our new books. Later on we made masks that we would use, if we were a masked reader. Each child was given a flyer with more information and a bookmark to take home with their new book.
Our next event will be on Thursday 8th May, when we will be holding a booknic. During this day, we will enjoy a picnic outside (weather permitting) and then have time to enjoy reading our new books and also take part in other reading/ book related activities.

Greystone's Farm Y3/4 trip:
Year 3 and 4 had an exciting trip at the end of term 1. They went to Greystone's Farm and had a fantastic time! Throughout the day they had different activities to complete. We got to go into the roundhouse where we made some bread and leant how to strike and fire and keep it alight, learning why this was so important for the Iron Age people! We got the chance to look at some Iron Age artefacts and become an archaeologist and much more! We will be learning more about the Iron Age later on this year. This trip was kindly funded by Cotswold Landscapes who were leading the day and taught us all so much, while making it so much fun! Take a look at some of the pictures of the day below.
Y3/4 Greystone's Farm trip 24
Y3/4 had a visit from Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service to talk all about the importance of fire safety.
Greystone's Farm trip
On the day, we will be spending a lot of time outside so your child will need a jumper and coat, sensible shoes for walking or if possible a pair of wellies. It would be a good idea for your child to wear comfortable shoes and bring wellies in a named carrier bag so that they can change when we get to the farm and then put the shoes back on when we return to the coach. The children should wear their school uniform on the day.
They will also need a packed lunch and a snack (unless you are eligible for and have ordered a free school meal packed lunch) and a water bottle. The children may have their faces painted on the day, if your child is not able to wear face paint due to allergies etc, please inform the class teacher before the trip. If you have any questions, please see your child's class teacher.
Thank you
Year 3 and 4 teachers
On Friday, year 3 and 4 had our hook day! The day was packed full of many fun activities. We created some clay wings like Icarus, looked at the Greek alphabet and had a go writing our name and finished the day off playing some ancient Greek Olympic games! The games included discus, javelin, shotput and hammer throw! Take a look below at some of the pictures of the day.
