Sports Premium

The Government currently provides additional funding to improve provision of physical education and sport in primary schools in England – The Primary PE and Sport Premium.  This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.

We must use the funding to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of our physical education (PE), physical activity and sport provision.  This means that we should use the premium to:

  • Develop or add to the PE, physical activity and sport that we provide
  • Build capacity and capability to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining the school in future years

We should use the premium to secure improvements in the following 5 key indicators:

  1. Engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity
  2. Profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole-school improvement
  3. Increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  4. Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
  5. Increased participation in competitive sport

Accountability & Online Reporting

We are accountable for the use of the PE and Sport Premium funding allocated and are expected to spend the grant for the purpose it was provided only.   We must publish details of how we have spent our PE and sport premium.

We must detail:

  • The amount of premium received
  • A full breakdown of how it has been spent
  • The impact on pupils’ PE, physical activity, and sport participation and attainment
  • How the improvements will be sustainable in the future
  • The percentage of pupils within our year 6 cohort who met the national curriculum requirements in swimming.

We have completed the new online reporting template for 2023-24 and a copy of this is attached below.

We have taken part in a 'Team Rubicon' Scootering and Skateboarding day, to apply our skills and increase our experiences in PE. It was great fun!
