Term 4
We have an exciting term ahead! The children will be looking at traditional tales such as Little Red Riding Hood, The Three Little Pigs and The Gingerbread Man. We will be working on re-telling these tales in our play and talking about the characters and settings. We will also use these traditional tales to help the children with their writing. The children will be encouraged to write sentences independently and to listen to all the sounds in a word. We will also continue to work with the children on their letter formations. We will send home a sheet in their book bags so you can help at home, too!
In Maths, we are going to start counting in 2s and 10s. We will continue to work on doubling and finding one more and one less from a given number. Please practise with your child at home and don't forget to practise their maths skills on Numbots (see your class teacher if you can't find your log in code).
This term we have an exciting trip to Shaftesbury Lake planned. Stay tuned for more information. Finally, the children continue to have yoga on a Thursday (please remember to bring in your P.E. kits). All the children have thoroughly enjoyed the yoga sessions so far and the teacher has been so impressed with their behaviour.  So we are thrilled to continue yoga this in term 4. Namaste!
Finally, don't forget to do the jigsaw homework (see below) and to read with with your child at least 5 times a week.

Term 3

In Term 3 we have been looking at our bodies, keeping healthy and learning about how we change as we grow. We have been learning about the past and how objects and people change over time. The children compared Victorian toys to present day toys and studied old black and white photographs/objects such as kettles, irons and cars. The children brought in pictures of themselves as babies and we had such fun guessing who was who. In Maths, we have been learning our number bonds to 10 and learning about time.  It has been such a busy term!

We are going to be learning about brushing our teeth as part of The Big Brush Club, a NHS initiative to encourage children to brush their teeth more regularly.

Here are some of the fun things that the children have been up to in Robins.

Term 2

In term 2 looked at different celebrations including some from other cultures and religions. We learnt about special clothes we wear, how we decorate our houses and special foods that we eat when we celebrate these events.

We put on a Nativity Play for our families. We had to work very hard but we had a lot of fun doing it. We really enjoyed learning the songs and some of us are still singing them!

We made our own Diya lamps when we were learning about Diwali. We lit them before we took them home. We really enjoyed having some quiet time looking at the flames.

We lit sparklers and wrote poems about Bonfire night.

We also  talked about bullying as part of Anti-Bullying Week. We used the story of The Ugly Duckling to help the children understand all about bullying. We visited Shaftesbury Lake to see the ducks, swans and geese.

We went on a Autumn walk and found a lot of signs of Autumn. We made a story stick of our walk and collected interesting things we found on the way. We enjoyed walking through the crunchy leaves and spinning the sycamore tree seeds.

We have also be learning and playing in Robin Bay!
