In Term 4 we will be reading lots of different traditional tales. Each week we will be looking at a new story and doing different activities based around it. So far we have investigated which biscuit is the strongest and decorated gingerbread men (The Gingerbread Man), built bridges out of different materials (The Three Billy Goats Gruff) and talked about stranger awareness and how to keep ourselves safe (Little Red Riding Hood). The other stories we will focus on this term are Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Three Little Pigs and Jack and the Beanstalk.
In Term 3 our topic was Ourselves. Lots of us did our learning at home with our adults. We learnt about the five different senses, our body, what babies need and how we have changed now that we are older. We loved watching Funny Bones stories and watching the Skeleton Dance.
In Term 2 we learnt about lots of different celebrations. We talked about Bonfire Night and our experiences watching fireworks. We even lit some sparklers on the playground. We also learnt about Diwali, the Hindu festival of light, Hanukkah and the Christmas Story.
During anti-bullying week we looked at the story of the Ugly Duckling. We talked about what bullying is and how it makes people feel. We then talked about how we can stop bullying from happening. We can tell an adult if we see it happening, be kind to each other and make sure that we share our toys. We also learnt that baby ducks are called ducklings and baby swans are called cygnets. We went for a walk to Shaftesbury Lake to see the geese, ducks, swans and cygnets. Have a look at the photos below, can you count how many swans there were?
In Term 1 we learnt about how to be a good friend, how to make people feel happy and what we should do if we're feeling sad, angry or worried. We read and re-told lots of stories including, We're Going on a Bear Hunt, Owl Babies, Lost and Found and Where The Wild Things Are. Below are some photos of the different things we got up to.
