We had a lovely visit to Shaftesbury Lake and Coate Water on 14th April to help us gather some vocabulary for our new English unit based on the book, Our Tower by Joseph Coelho and Richard Johnson. We created a soundscape; gathering all the sounds we could hear in our school grounds, on our journey and in the park. We will now use our ideas and also include some onomatopoeias (words which sound like the word being described such as pop, crash, buzz) to create some wonderful sound poems.
Term 4- Traders and raiders
Science Week: 9th–13th March 2026
Year 3/4 have had a fantastic week celebrating Science Week! Throughout the week, the children took part in a range of exciting scientific activities and investigations. We were also very lucky to have special visitors from the Sublime Science company, who delivered an engaging and interactive science session.
In class, we explored our own scientific questions, including: What does a daffodil look like? How do aeroplanes work? Who has the fastest reaction time?
The children dissected flowers to closely observe their different parts, carried out a full investigation to test reaction times using a ruler, and designed and tested paper aeroplanes to see which ones travelled the furthest and why.
Finally, the children were invited to take part in a science investigation at home by creating an egg parachute. It was wonderful to see so many children getting involved and sharing their creative designs! Take a look at some of the pictures of the week below.
