Safe surfing

The internet is a fantastic resource for children, and we want to encourage our pupils to use it sensibly and wisely. Here are some further tips to encourage your child to navigate around the internet:

Google Safe Search

If your child uses the Google search engine, ensure you have some filtering to make sure they cannot access inappropriate websites. The 'Safesearch' tool will do this - look for it in the top right corner of the google homepage.

There are a wealth of useful websites out there for children aged between 7 and 11. Cyberquoll is the official Australian e-safety website, featuring  videos of a set of twins who use the internet unwisely (best for 9-11 year olds). The BBC site is suitable for 7-9 year olds. KidSmart has a range of written information and is suitable for older children.
